An important aspect of safe transportation is proper marking. Marking of cargoes – it is the application of symbols to the cargo, numbers and symbols, which carry information about the recipient, rules for handling cargo and its completeness. Inscriptions can be applied to the container, packaging or attached label, also on the cargo itself. International freight provides for mandatory marking of import and export cargo.

Classification of goods

Depending on the information contained in it, the labeling is divided into several types:

  1. Commodity marking – carries useful information for the consumer: producer, name of cargo, variety and other information.
  2. Starting marking – includes cargo details, indicating its belonging to the consignment of goods, entered in the goods transport document.
  3. Special marking allows the sender to specify special storage conditions, transportation and handling of goods. It is performed in the form of signs or warning inscriptions.
  4. Transport marking of goods must contain information, required for transportation. It includes the registration number of shipment and the number of cargo spaces, in the party.

What information does the transport marking contain??

Basic inscriptions:

  • complete or conditional information about the recipient;
  • final destination;
  • the number of cargo spaces when sending a different batch in the same type of packaging or similar cargo in different types of packaging;
  • the number of product items in the party and the ordinal designation of the place in sending (is denoted by a fraction).

Additional inscriptions:

  • sender information;
  • designation of transport organizations;
  • point of departure.

Information inscriptions:

  • gross and net weight, specified in kilograms, it is permissible to replace the information with the number of products in pieces;
  • geometric dimensions of the cargo space (VM), dimensions to 1 m are not specified.

Rules of cargo marking

The regulations for applying reliable information when sending cargo prescribe the following rules:

  1. Transport marking of goods must be performed at each cargo place. Cases of transportation of homogeneous cargoes in cars are allowed, vehicles or standardized containers, when there is only information on net and gross weight. Marking of cargoes of GOST 14192-96 applied to cardboard labels, plywood, paper or metal or on packaging.
  2. Manipulation signs indicate the features of a cargo and give recommendations on the storage temperature, methods of unloading and placement. They can be placed on the package, container and attached label. Standard application site – the upper left corner of each VM, the sign is duplicated on two adjacent sides of the container. Marking is performed with contrasting paint – a light pattern is applied to a dark surface, and vice versa – on light packing black paint. The use of colors is not recommended, which mark dangerous goods.
  3. If the cargo is delivered without packaging, the information is applied to the product.
  4. Inscriptions are made in the following places:
    – on drawers – from the side;
    – on barrels – on the bottom;
    – on stacks – from the end of the surface;
    – on bags – near the top seam;
    – Goods without proper packaging and other types of packaging must be marked in clearly visible places.

Ways to apply information

Marking on the cargo is applied:

  • paint on a stencil;
  • printing, lithographic and electrolytic methods;
  • stamping;
  • pushing;
  • burning;
  • marking machine.

The marking of containers is applied according to the requirements of the international ISO standard 6346.

International cargo marking

Marking of cargo during transportation in the International direction, whether it is trucking from Europe or delivery of goods from China, necessary for safe transportation.

In addition to symbols, mandatory for application within the country, additional information is required for international transportation. It is attached to the main inscriptions:

  • information on contract or order numbers, concluded with a foreign buyer;
  • dress-order number;
  • trademark and brand of the consignor;
  • end point and cargo road.

Information on the dimensions of the VM in m3 is attached to the information inscriptions on the dimensions. If the size and volume of the cargo do not exceed 1 m, then the inscription is not required.

Marking of export cargoes is performed in the language of the consignee. Information on imported cargo is applied in a similar way. The difference is the performance of an additional record in Russian about the recipient and the endpoint.
