Problems with electricity are already familiar to most residents of Ukraine. Nevertheless, A lot depends on electricity, and even a few-hour disconnection significantly disrupts everyday life, work, own comfort. Therefore, if possible, it is better to prepare and purchase a generator to cover the most important needs with light. We suggest considering the main selection criteria.

Classification of generators by power

Conventionally, all types of generators can be divided into four groups by power:

• To 3 kvt. This is a backup power source. If the light is turned off, it will ensure the operation of important electrical appliances - the refrigerator, water pump, light bulbs.
• To 5 kvt. It will help with fan power outages. But it will be difficult for him to feed several demanding devices at the same time.
• To 7 kvt. Powerful equipment, able to provide comfort in a private home, so that the owners do not feel inconvenience.

How to calculate the required generator power

2. Count each light bulb separately 40-60 W.
3. If the device is inductive, then multiply the power by the starting current. You can find its value in the data sheet or on the factory sticker under the symbol cos φ. Example, capacity refrigerator 300 W has an inrush current ratio 3: 300 × 3 = 900. We enter the final value in the table 900 W (or 0,9 kW).
4. Then add the amount. This value will be the required power of the generator. But it is better to add approximately 20%. Because the device should not work at maximum power, but even a reduced load can harm it. The optimal indicator is 40–80% of the total capabilities.

Choose a device with an automatic control function, where user control is minimized. If the generator is installed indoors, then as an additional kit you need to purchase an exhaust gas removal system.
